Setting Up Alerts

Receive alerts via the Tracking page, Message Center, email, and SMS (text)

Updated over a week ago

There are four types of alerts:

  • Tracking Page: The Tracking page displays alert events as low, medium, or high priority. In addition, 360 displays a notification card on screen for high priority alerts.

  • Message Center (Msg C): Sends messages to the Message Center when alert events occur. This option is useful for centralizing your alert notifications in one place.

  • Email: When alert events occur, sends email messages to recipients you specify.

  • SMS: To receive SMS alerts, you must set up the appropriate account with an EROAD-supported third-party SMS digital messaging provider. For information, contact EROAD Support.

Set Up Recommended Alerts

1. Go to one of the following:

  • Vehicles > Vehicle Manager > General Settings

  • Drivers > Driver Manager > General Settings

2. Select Alerting > Add Alert Plan

An Add Alert Plan window opens. The following image shows the window for Vehicle Manager.

3. In the Alert Plan Name field, enter a unique name for this alert plan.

4. In the General [Vehicle | Driver] Alerting list, for each alert event you choose, select the notification option(s) that apply.

Note: Tracking Page alerts display a popup alert notification and center the Tracking map on a vehicle when it incurs the selected alert event.

5. Under Alerting Hours, select Always On or Specific Hours.

If you select Specific Hours, use the dropdowns to select Start and Finish times throughout the week. The default is Always On.

6. If you checked Email or SMS for any alert events, under Notification, select Email Recipient(s) or Sms Recipients(s), respectively.

The Select Recipient(s) window opens, where you select recipients from the list of 360 users and add them to the To field. Select OK when done.

7. Select Save.

Alert notifications are now enabled for the alert plan you just created. Recipients will receive the alerts, but they won’t be able to cancel or adjust the alerts in this alert plan. Repeat this process for other Manager modules, as needed.

To view alerts, select the Notifications icon located in the upper right corner of the screen.

Additional Notes

  • The process described above applies to setting up any alert plan.

  • You can also create alerts within Fleet Manager > General Settings.

  • You can set alerts for particular Driver Groups by selecting:

Driver Manager > General Settings > Groups > Select a Group > Edit Driver Group

  • The Alerting tab is available outside of General Settings. For example, you can apply alert plans to particular fleets, vehicles, drivers, and devices through the Edit ... button within a given Manager module.
