Add a Geofence

Add geofences to track vehicle activity within areas of interest for your business

Geofences can help you Manage time on site, monitor vehicle entry and exit times, and ensure safe speeds are maintained in high-risk locations.

Add a Geofence (Polygon)

1. Go to Admin > Location Manager.

2. Adjust the map view so it displays the area you want to enclose in a geofence.

3. Select Add > Polygon.

The cursor changes to a pencil icon.

4. Click and drag to draw the geofence shape. When done, select Finished.​

The Location Edit Settings window opens in which you add General information about the geofence. ​

5. At minimum, enter the Name of the geofence and the Ext Reference 1 and Ex Reference 2 numbers. The external references are required fields for Sysco back-office integration.​

6. Select the Groups tab to assign the geofence to a location group. If you select more than one group, be sure to select one as the Primary.​

7. Click Save.

By default, all locations are automatically installed in all vehicles.

Add a Geofence (Circle)

1. Go to Admin > Location Manager.

2. Adjust the map view so it displays the area you want to enclose in a geofence.

3. Select Add > Circle.

The cursor changes to a pencil.

4. Click where you want the center of the circle to be located.

5. Select Finish.

The Location Edit Settings window opens.

6. Enter geofence general information, including Entry Radius and Exit Radius.

The size of a geofence is πr^2 square meters, where r is the radius you specify.

7. Select the Groups tab to assign the geofence to a location group. If you select more than one group, be sure to select one as the Primary.

6. Select Save.

By default, all locations are automatically installed in all vehicles.
