The 16-hour exception allows you to add two on-duty hours to your remaining shift time. The exception only applies when the following criteria are true:
You must be released from duty within 16 hours after coming on duty.
You can only use this exception once every seven consecutive days unless you took 34 consecutive hours off as a cycle restart before the next 60/7 or 70/8 cycle.
You must not have previously exceeded the 14-hour shift limit in the current cycle.
You return to the same work reporting location at the end of the current shift as you did for the last five workdays. A workday is the time period between going on duty and going off duty, where the time between your off-duty periods is at least 10 consecutive hours.
Enable the 16-Hour Exception
To enable the 16-hour exception:
1. On the Dashboard screen, tap Rules & Availability.
2. On the Rules and Availability screen, tap 16-Hour Exception > Apply.
Note: You must be in an on-duty status to elect to use the exception—On Duty, Driving, Yard Move.
After tapping Apply, Drive assesses your eligibility to use the 16-hour exception and displays another prompt with the results as described in the next section.
If you meet the eligibility requirements, the exception only goes into effect when you reach 14 hours for the workday. Your driver log indicates when the 16-hour exception went into effect.
If you do not reach 14 hours for the workday, the exception is still available for you to use within the current cycle.

Working Location
Drive automatically generates a Shift Start event that records the work reporting location. You can see this in your logs. The following image shows the Log Edit view within the Driver Portal.
You can change your work recording location as follows:
Record a new work reporting location after a cycle restart.
EROAD Drive prompts you when you start the shift at a different location than your
established work reporting location.
[Driver], you are starting your shift outside of your normal work reporting location
[current location]. Do you wish to make [new location] your new work reporting
location? NO YES
Ask your supervisor to reset the location.
