The CoreHub Installation and Maintenance Guide referenced in the answers below can be found here.

How is a CoreHub installation performed?

A CoreHub installation consists of two key steps:

1. Physical installation of the CoreHub device in the vehicle.

2. CoreHub configuration, vehicle creation, and assignment using the CoreHub Installer App.

How do I access the CoreHub Installer App?

The CoreHub Installer App is a mobile application that you download via the Apple App or Google Play stores using the links or QR code listed further down.

You must also have an active EROAD profile to access the app. Use the following TechHUB forms to request an EROAD profile:

What is a permanent installation?

A permanent installation is placed behind the vehicle's dashboard and usually relies on pulling power, ground, and ignition from separate sources.

Use permanent installations for owned and long-term leased vehicles. Refer to the CoreHub Installation and Maintenance Guide for details about the following permanent installation methods, which are based on the connection used:

RP1226

9-pin

2-pin

OBD-II

What is a portable installation?

A portable installation is placed outside the vehicle’s dashboard and utilizes a green 9-pin diagnostic connection.

Use portable installations for short-term rentals. These installations pull data, power, ground, and ignition from the diagnostic port with a minimum amount of hardware, allowing for easy transition from vehicle to vehicle.

Refer to the Portable Installation Guide in the CoreHub Installation and Maintenance Guide for details.

What hardware do I need to perform an installation?

The required hardware is determined by the vehicle being installed. Key items to consider are:

A. Is the vehicle owned or leased?

If yes, the vehicle will require a permanent installation.

B. Is the vehicle a short-term rental?

If yes, and the vehicle has a 9-pin diagnostic connection, you can use the portable installation method. All other connection types (RP1226, OBD-II, etc.) require a permanent installation.

C. What is the vehicle's make, model, and year?

A vehicle's make, model, and year determine the connection used and in turn the installation method.

How do I order EROAD hardware?

The first step in each installation guide (Step 1 - Verify Equipment) details the required hardware to perform an installation. Pictures and part numbers are listed for reference.

If you need additional hardware, fill out an Order Form. Note the following:

How do I move a CoreHub to another vehicle?

A factory reset must be performed before installing a CoreHub to a new vehicle. See the Move a CoreHub section in the CoreHub Installation and Maintenance Guide for details.

How do I confirm whether a CoreHub is working properly?

Use the CoreHub Installer App Repair function to check the following items:

  • Connection status: Connected

  • Signal strength: fair to great

  • Ignition: On

  • Odometer

  • Is CAN active: true

  • RPM is displayed

  • GPS connected

See the Repair Validation Process section in the CoreHub Installation and Maintenance Guide for details.

If you need to confirm additional information (e.g., engine hours, etc.), contact EROAD Support (855-503-7623).

How do I replace a bad CoreHub?

Contact the EROAD Support team to perform an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization). See the Technical Support Requests and Returns Process section in the CoreHub Installation and Maintenance Guide for details about submitting an RMA.
